DSEI Interior Sul invests in maintenance to ensure quality water for more than 31K indigenous people
With an investment of two million and five hundred thousand reais, the DSEI Interior Sul has contracted maintenance services for 134 drinking water supply systems, 89 of which are underground (shafts) and 45 surface sources (fountains). The services will benefit 31 thousand indigenous people from 101 villages in 46 municipalities in the states of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina.
The corrective and preventive maintenance services will guarantee the constant operation of the villages´ water systems, including the replacement of equipment parts. In addition, the services will update the knowledge of the conditions of each system, allowing the monitoring of the supply of drinking water to the indigenous people.
The coordinator of the DSEI Litoral Sul, Alexandre Rossetini, is grateful for the support of indigenous leaders and reinforces the SESAI´s commitment to Indigenous Health. "We have taken a big step with the signing of this contract. This will solve many problems that prevented the arrival of quality water to the indigenous peoples", said Rossetini, who also emphasized the importance of the work of the DSEI employees in the process of contracting the maintenance of the water systems.
The maintenance of the Water Supply Systems in the DSEI Interior Sul is essential to properly serve the indigenous population with water of sufficient quality and quantity to meet the demand of the communities.
