Mobile Team performs almost 8K consultations and procedures in the DSEI Xavante
The difficulties in the journey to reach the villages do not discourage the professionals of the Mobile Team. Between March 29 and April 8, one doctor, three nurses, and three nursing technicians went to the Special Indigenous Sanitary District (DSEI) Xavante to provide health reinforcement to the Multidisciplinary Indigenous Health Teams (EMSI) and perform consultations and immunization against Covid-19.
During this period, almost eight thousand consultations and procedures were carried out, among them 596 vaccinations against Covid-19 and more than 500 home consultations.
"We went around several villages in the DSEI to help the teams meet their vaccination goals, and we did," said Danielle Gomes, a nurse from the Mobile Team. Besides the vaccination against Covid-19, the health professionals performed routine vaccination in children under five years of age and consultations in indigenous people of various ages.
Currently, more than 75% of the indigenous people of the Xavante DSEI have already received the first dose of the immunization. EMSI´s daily awareness and active search, in partnership with the indigenous health agents (AIS), have been fundamental for the indigenous people to accept the vaccination.
"I took the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine and I am very happy because it will improve my life. I recommend to everyone not to be afraid of getting the vaccine", asked the teacher Eraldo, from the village Água Viva.
All the effort of the health professionals from the Mobile Team and EMSI was rewarded with high rates, excellent care, and, the main thing, up-to-date health of the indigenous people.
"The rates have increased a lot. We have already heard that the result was excellent in the consultations as well, and the indigenous population was very happy. I want to thank SESAI for assisting us in this difficult moment", concluded the coordinator of the DSEI Xavante, Gildo Azeredo.
