Alagoas and Sergipe DSEI inaugurates UAPI for the care of mild cases of COVID-19
The Special Indigenous Health District (DSEI) Alagoas and Sergipe inaugurated a Primary Indigenous Care Unit (UAPI) on Wednesday (8/jul) in the municipality of Palmeira dos Indios (AL). The Xucuru Kariri UAPI aims to strengthen primary health care services for indigenous patients with suspected or mild symptoms of COVID-19.
For the implementation of this care unit, the DSEI counted on the support of indigenous leaders, the District Council of Indigenous Health (CONDISI) and the Municipality of Palmeira dos Indios. The Indigenous Health Multidisciplinary Team (EMSI) of the Xucuru Base Center was organized to continue providing routine care in the villages and the Unit.
More than 1.7 thousand Indians, who live in 9 villages, served by the Xucuru Base Pole will benefit from the UAPI.
