The Mobile Health Team returns to the DSEI Kaiapó of Mato Grosso to a reinforcement action
More than three thousand consultations and procedures were carried out by the Mobile Health Team of the Special Secretariat of Indigenous Health (SESAI) during the "Mebengokre Health Action Mato Grosso" held from July 7 to 17 in the Special Indigenous Sanitary District (DSEI) Kaiapó of Mato Grosso. Together with the District´s Multidisciplinary Indigenous Health Team (EMSI), several health care services and procedures were carried out in the Kapoto village of the Colíder Base Pole. The whole team was tested for Covid-19 before entering an indigenous area.
Besides medical care with a general practitioner, there were nursing and nutritionist consultations, home care, vaccination updates, ultrasound exams, and testing for several diseases. There were also informative lectures about disease prevention and the importance of vaccination against Covid-19. The District has already immunized 72% of the population aged 18 or older and 41% with the second dose of the immunization against the new coronavirus.
This is the second reinforcement action carried out by the SESAI Mobile Health Team in the District. In November 2020, the Mobile Health Team conducted 1.9 thousand consultations and procedures in home visits to the villages. At that time, several basic health care services and Covid-19 testing were performed, with a focus on prevention against the new coronavirus.
The Kaiapó DSEI of Mato Grosso has a population of approximately 5 thousand indigenous people from 12 ethnic groups. Basic health services are carried out in home visits, in 13 Basic Indigenous Health Units (UBSI), in 3 base Poles and 3 Indigenous Health Support Houses.
