MG-ES DSEI performs several actions to fight COVID-19
The Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo DSEI have been working on several fronts to bring basic health care during the new coronavirus epidemic. To ensure that the indigenous people have the necessary supplies to protect themselves against COVID-19, the MG-ES DSEI delivered medicines, personal hygiene kits and masks to the Maxacali people at the Base Centers of Água Boa and Pradinho.
In São João das Missões, the Indigenous Health Multidisciplinary Team (EMSI) of the Rancharia Base Center made a health barrier in the village of Olhos Dágua and provided primary care to the Xacriabá people. The EMSI also distributed personal hygiene kits to the Tuxá people, from Setsuo Bragaga village, reinforced health care actions and carried out orientation actions to fight the new coronavirus to the Pataxó and Kaxixó people in Itapecerica, Capão do Zezinho and Açucena.
In another front, the Araçuaí Base Center team met with the Pankararú leadership, an indigenous health representative and coordinator of epidemiological surveillance of Araçuaí, through videoconference, to align on the state resolution to encourage indigenous health.
The community of the village Gerú Tucunã - Pataxó ethnic group, located in Açucena-MG, received guidance on the importance of healthy eating, for the prevention of diseases, including COVID-19, through the consumption of food that helps to increase immunity to confront diseases.
