Vale do Javari DSEI intensifies actions to combat COVID-19
In April, the Vale do Javari DSEI intensified actions of Health Promotion and Permanent Education; the DSEI also held a Planning and Monitoring Meeting, to combat the novel coronavirus.
DSEI teams reviewed guidelines on the importance of wearing a mask to protect oneself from COVID-19 during the return of indigenous people to their villages of origin. They also explained the correct technique of using the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
The teams are also conducting a house-to-house vaccination campaign against influenza and measles.
Regarding Permanent Education, the DSEI offers technical and pedagogical support during the realization of courses on COVID-19 in the Distance Learning modality for professionals at the middle and higher levels.
Another recommendation, was for the professionals who will enter indigenous lands to comply with quarantine. A strategy planning was also made to monitor these professionals during quarantine.
The DSEI Vale do Javari also partnered with the indigenous movement to purchase and make Domestic Masks to be distributed to Indigenous Health users and to raise awareness among the indigenous population about how to confront the novel coronavirus.
Daily radio and telephone communications are made with the Indigenous Health Multidisciplinary Teams at the Base to monitor cases of acute and severe flu syndromes, to deliver technical reports on COVID-19, and epidemiological bulletins updates from the border countries, national, state and municipal levels.
